Gambir Sebagai Antibakteri Dalam Formulasi Obat Kumur

Gambier is the extract of Uncaria gambir Roxb leaves. The use of gambier in mouthwash formulae is one of the efforts of exploring gambier advantages. The existing commercialized mouthwash have quite a high alcohol. The use of a mouthwashes with alcohol contain more than of 25% will increase the risk of generating. mouth and throat cancers up to 50%. The objective of this research using to find the type and bestconcentration of gambier in the mouthwash formula, so that it could be have accepted by consumer. The experiment was in complete random factorial design with two factors andthree levels. The first factor was gambier concentration (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%), and the second factor was tud of storage (at weekly until one month). Result showed that gambier with low catechin (25-35%) and tannins (60-65%) had the highest resistance to Streptococcus mutans (up 41.77 %). The antibacterial activity of gambier mouthwash was in the range 20.45 - 43.24%, while the control (Pepsodent Herbal) was 28.25%. The pH of gambier mouthwash was 4.14 - 4.38, while that of the control was 4.66. The viscosity of the mouthwash was 2.75 - 4.75 cP, while the control was 7.25 cP. Both the gambier mouthwash and the control had showed that gambier mouthwash with gambier concentration of 1 % was the most preferred by consumers

Generalized valence bond wave functions in quantum Monte Carlo

We present a technique for using quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) to obtain high quality energy differences. We use generalized valence bond (GVB) wave functions, for an intuitive approach to capturing the important sources of static correlation, without needing to optimize the orbitals with QMC. Using our modifications to Walker branching and Jastrows, we can then reliably use diffusion quantum Monte Carlo to add in all the dynamic correlation. This simple approach is easily accurate to within a few tenths of a kcal/mol for a variety of problems, which we demonstrate for the adiabatic singlet-triplet splitting in methylene, the vertical and adiabatic singlet-triplet splitting in ethylene, 2+2 cycloaddition, and Be_2 bond breaking

VAT: Is it Suitable for the Caribbean Community?

    Get PDF
The Caribbean Community is in transition, moving toward a liberalized trade environment with low tariffs. Tax reform is at the forefront of the policy response since traditional sources of tax revenue such as import duties are on the decline. This paper evaluates the suitability of the VAT to countries of the Caribbean Community. We examine theoretical arguments, practical experiences of the Caribbean with the VAT and the economic and tax characteristics of the Caribbean. We conclude by supporting VAT implementation in the Caribbean Community. This paper also reflects a comprehensive survey of tax reform efforts in the Caribbean.Value Added Tax; Caribbean Community

Simulation study of gust alleviation in a tilt rotor aircraft, volume 1

The response to vertical turbulence in cruise of the HTR XV-15 design is studied using simulation techniques. This design is a modified version of the XV-15 with a hingeless fiberglass soft-in-plane rotor system. The parameters of a gust alleviation system are determined and the performance of the system is evaluated over a range of cruise velocities and altitudes

Fabrication and test of a space power boiler feed electromagnetic pump. 3: Endurance and final performance tests

A three-phase helical induction electromagnetic pump designed for the boiler feed pump of a potassium Rankine cycle space power system was developed and built. It was mounted in a liquid metal test loop and successfully tested over a range of potassium temperatures from 900 to 1400 F, flow rates from 0.75 to 4.85 lb/sec, developed pressures up to 340 psi, net positive suction head from 1 to 22 psi, and NaK coolant temperatures from 800 to 950 F. Maximum efficiency at design point conditions of 3.25 lb/sec flow rate, 240 psi developed head, 1000 F potassium inlet temperature, and 800 F NaK coolant inlet temperature was 16.3 percent. After the performance tests the pump was operated without any difficulty at design point for 10,000 hours, and then a limited number of repeat performance tests were made. There was no appreciable change in pump performance after 10,000 hours of operation. A supplementary series of tests using the quasi-square wave power output of a dc to three-phase ac inverter showed that the pump would operate without difficulty at a frequency as low as 25 Hz, with little loss in efficiency
